Frequently Asked Questions

Who are the after-school programs for?

While most after-school students come from our preschool program, families from the wider community are also welcome to join. Registration is offered one semester at a time (fall: mid-September to mid-December, winter: January to March, and spring: April to June).

If the programs have already started, can I still register?

If we still have space, absolutely. We will prorate your registration with the number of sessions remaining.

How much French is spoken?

Our educators are native French speakers, and our entire program is in French. But please note that all language backgrounds are welcome, and our first priority is your child’s well-being. Educators will speak English as needed during adaptation for engagement and safety purposes.

Is a snack provided?

Yes, a nutritious snack is included as part of registration. Students are invited to join us at the snack table at the beginning of the program, shortly after drop-off.

What is your pedagogical approach?

La Petite École follows a play-based approach, as research shows young children learn best through play, exploration, and relationships. Our program is also inspired by Reggio Emilia, where educators follow children’s interests and build learning through inquiry and creativity. While families sometimes compare us to Montessori, our classrooms emphasize collaborative play and open-ended exploration.

What is your cancellation policy?

La Petite École does not offer refunds or make-up days in the case of illness, last-minute vacation, or self-isolation.
